Glass Cycle

Glass Cycle started as a dialogue between Emma Sarpaniemi & Katarina Juričić. It was conducted in the form of a photographic and performative exploration of glass, versatile material which enabled them to find a balance between their fundamentally different nature of practices.

Through the series of reactions on each other’s actions, they dissected the medium of glass and interpreted it’s material, ontological, functional and symbolic characteristics. With an existential approach, Katarina focused on the very being of the material, as well as its immense photographic potential. While Emma, by the means of performance, explored the symbolic idea of glass as a surface, as well as it’s potential to evoke an emotional reaction.

For the epilogue, Anna Kieblesz (scanned glass composition), Aleksi Marjamaa (glass installation) & Ivan Cuic (glass soundscape on Kantarion Sound) were invited to contribute with works which would enrich the initial dialogue and further emphasize the versatility of the material.

Trixie will serve as the podium where the Glass Cycle will come together. Join us for this one-night event, vernissage and finissage at once, on Friday 11th of January from 18-22.
