The Thing // Trixie and Art-S-School

On the occasion of the 71st edition of HOOGTIJ in The Hague, Trixie joins forces with the young makers of Art-S-Cool for a special weekend.

The event consist of a workshop and an exhibition of its outcome to bee seen from the 25th until 27th of November

The Thing is a creative force, present within each and every single person, but especially within children. It thrives within kids as they are not yet held down as much by preconceptions on how things should and shouldn’t be, like adults are.

The Thing is a collaborative exploration between the artists of Trixie and the children of Art-S-Cool — Part event, part exhibition, part neighbourhood gathering, it hopes to bring together the worlds of neighbourhood communities with contemporary art. For two days artists and children will work together to materialise their idea of what this ambiguous force in all of us is. The Thing will see children of Schilderswijk take over the gallery space of Trixie and work together to create a space where the outcome doesn’t matter as much as the process of making.

While the children and teachers will form the main creative force of the event, it is expected that others, being casual visitors, parents, artists, neighbourhood crowds, are invited to join and contribute. Through this The Thing will act as a mixing bowl of different crowds, scenes, and neighbourhoods.

Art-S-Cool consists of an artist collective that develops and takes care of the art activities. They are also closely involved in policy and organisation.
The collective is formed by artists and designers from different disciplines. This diversity is reflected in the surprising art activities that Art-S-Cool offers.
