General Meeting | Art Rotterdam Intersections 2025
28 – 30 March
Art Rotterdam 2025, Rotterdam Ahoy
About
Trixie proudly presents: General Meeting — a durational performance and live-documented film installation unfolding over three days at Art Rotterdam. The work explores the unseen labor and collaboration behind sustaining independent art spaces. Blending performance, film, and audience interaction, it provides an immersive, playful, and candid look into the world of artist-led platforms.
General Meeting is a newly developed collaborative work by Trixie for Art Rotterdam It takes as a starting point the invisible administrative labour that artists, collectives, and studios undertake behind the scenes to give artists space to make art — the type of art for sale at the Art Rotterdam.
The performative events are divided into scripted ‘interventions’ — performances based on real-life events that have happened at Trixie — followed by real-time meetings, in which Trixie members will discuss current studio management issues. Performances are live-filmed and edited highlights are screened between the events.
Together the performance series spotlights the often-unseen labor and collaboration that sustain artist-run spaces, shedding light on the realities of operating in an increasingly complex art world. By bringing the backstage processes to the forefront, the work asks: what does it take to maintain an independent art space? What does the totality of an artist’s “work” look like?
Support us
We’ve received partial funding from Stroom Den Haag, but we still need your help to cover the remaining costs and ensure everyone involved is paid fairly. By contributing, you’ll be a part of the story—supporting the future of Trixie and the work we do as an artist-run space.
Support via our crowdfunding campaign! Every contribution counts. 💛
