On Saturday, September 30, a ‘sociaal historische wandeling door de Rivierenbuurt’ took place, an event organized by Platform Kunst & Cultuur.
The event allowed participants to journey back in time. From 12:00 to 17:00 various interesting activities took place at different locations, participants could pick up a flyer to guide them on a walk through 16 fascinating locations in the neighborhood. Each location provided the opportunity to learn more about the history of the building and the area by scanning a QR code. For example, did you know that Vincent van Gogh once lived in the vicinity of Schenkweg with a woman he met on the street?
Trixie, the artist-run space located at Scheldestraat 11, was open between 12:00 and 17:00 for visitors to discover which artists once lived and worked in the neighborhood. Trixie’s studio likely showcased the creative contributions of members Clara Lezla, Maria chiara Ziosi, Ariane Toussaint and Ruben Visser, adding an artistic and cultural dimension to the historical exploration of the area.
