2023 RECAP

Trixie had a busy gallery and workshop programme in 2023! We began the year with a Patchwork workshop and group exhibition What the swans are twittering about in the riverbed. We hosted Newborns exhibition in March and we were busy with REWIRE in April when we hosted Diane Mahín with Proximity Music: Visceral Acts. In May we had From Dawn till Dusk, a 3-series solo/duo exhibitions: I saw a Sun crawling on my Bed / I saw the Sun growing two Wings, A less obedient version of Alexa and cOsMiC eXpAnSiOn.

In June we opened our studio doors with Bermuda Open Studio Weekend and we continued to prep our first collaborative artwork and show Residential Aliens that opened at U10 Art Space in Belgrade. We had 3D printing workshop for kids organised in collab with ART-S-COOL & Future Institute of Artin June and a Ceramics workshop organised in joint forces w/t Nice Flaps in September. Same month we hosted the Social-historical walk Rivierenbuurt and in October WdKA students We Are All Ruined.

We had the last workshop of the year Memory and Dream: Collaborative Script-Writing and we opened the solo exhibition Laatste Ronde by Arthur Cordier. Lastly, we hosted a group show Hybrid Realms and We Rivierenbuurt – photography exhibition by residents of our neighborhood that showcased portraits of locals. This was a joyous and heartwarming event that brought the ‘hood to the gallery. A wonderful wrap of the year.

We were generously supported by Stroom Den Haag, Het Cultuurfonds, Platform Kunst Rivierenbuurt-SpuikwartierGemeente Den Haag and many others who have helped us organise our programme in many different ways. We also had challenges in fundraising with changes to national funding for cultural organizations that led us to join the #NIETONDERDEZAAGLIJN initiative.

Last lastly – it was busy in our studios too! Several members left and new came in. Together we make Trixie run but individually we participated in at least 25 exhibitions around the globe! We are excited to bring you the news of our individual practices throughout this year – in the section BEHIND THE CURTAIN that is shared monthly in our newsletter. So be sure to subscribe!.
